Cassie Silva is a social worker and author living in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. She has had work published in six Chicken Soup for the Soul anthologies and in The New York Times. She is currently writing and querying picture books and looks forward to sharing her published work with you soon!
Cassie has used her writing talents to win online contests – including trips to San Diego, Toronto, New York, Orlando, and a three-week tour on the Trans-Siberian and Trans-Mongolian railways. Her proudest writing accomplishment to date was fundraising hundreds of thousands of dollars for her local healthcare foundation through grant writing, resulting in the purchase of life-saving medical equipment –including a much-needed new ventilator during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cassie is a dedicated volunteer and has given years of service to organizations like The Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Canadian Cancer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and various summer camps for children with life-threatening illnesses. She has taught English in Peruvian and Guatemalan orphanages and loves to fill her suitcase with picture books to hand out to children whenever she travels.

Cassie is a registered social worker working in healthcare and for several non-profit organizations. She believes strongly in equity, diversity, and the inherent dignity and worth of all persons. She uses an anti-oppressive lens in her practice, which is grounded in ethics, values and the pursuit of social justice.
